It's ALL part of the "Power of Smart Meters". Hidden, unseen, largely unknown by the people, sinister and dangerous.

Be careful .....

There are people ringing from 0800 numbers saying they are from British Gas and they are offering Smart Meter installations.

I had 2 or 3 a day last week recorded on the phone whilst I was away and it is still continuing. When I looked up the 0800 numbers, which varied slightly, via Google, the messages posted were the same, it's seems dodgy.

A few posters have said that the caller quotes your first 2 letters of your postcode, which is easy to find, in my case the 841 bit can easily be tied to a UB postcode, then they ask for the rest. One person answered the alleged security response with a made up postcode suffix that they accepted.

At the moment I'm letting Truecall block them but next week I may have some fun with them.

I have reported it to BG but I'm not expecting a response till next week. In the meantime I've used the BG number checker and that tool doesn't recognise the numbers.

Well that's true too, but when I said "when you see the awesome power of smart phones" I was referring to the awesome power you can see and do know about. Just seeing that makes me wary of smart meters, let alone whatever hidden capabilities they might have which I imagine are endless.
