another i wrote about the same time talking to a man whos wife had just died , he said it like a horror film

Life in Films

Walking in the garden, I slowed down my pace
This hospice is nice
A peaceful place

A man there was crying, what’s the matter with you?
He said, I’m an extra in a film a film that I dread
It s like a hammer horror film here
In this place of the dead

last one , so as not to get boring

About my cat who went blind over night

The Longest Night, by Jerry my cat when he went blind

I went to sleep as usual, dreaming of catching mice
Woke up the next day, had to blink once or twice
It should be morning, my dad’s up, on the pc
I just can’t work it out
I can no longer see
Nah it’s the curtains closed, and my cat flap
Can’t wait to get out
Strange the door is open
But it’s still black as black
Dad is in the garden
What’s he doing in the dark?
I go out very carefully
I can hear next doors dog, give a bark
I keep tripping over flowers
And the hose pipe on the ground
How is he walking round out there?
When it’s black all around
My dad picks me up he seems very upset
He tells me, don’t be scared, and never be afraid
This is the day the my night time came
And stayed and stayed and stayed

Not boring at all John. You've kept this side of you hidden for a long time haven't you. I think it's brilliant when people are creative, when they share creativity or enjoy and encourage it.

I am going on a date today
The best type there ever is
She is the most beautiful girl, I can’t ever have
With a mind that thinks like me
We laugh at the same things
We share our thoughts with glee

We tried before to meet up
To have a chat, and catch up
But we missed each other that time
So this is to make up

I can’t hold her hand, or kiss her
This is a meeting of dear friends
But how I wish it could be different
This meeting to make amends

I can hear her in my mind
Asking what’s to be
She can hear my answer
Without talking, next to me

I would not swap this day
For anything
She helps me when I’m down
Everyone else thinks I’m happy
Acting like a clown.

So it will be a good day
Walking with a love
Sharing thoughts and wishes
But there comes the rub

I feel lost without her
But complete when she’s with me
But the time I feel most lonely??
Is when she’s walking next to me?

John .. I agree that poems we write can be like keeping a diary of our life and can reflect happy and sad times. Thankyou for sharing some of yours. The poem about Jerry, your blind cat, had me thinking all day about Daisy, our own blind cat. I found a photo of her and some poems and writings about her and other past pets. They help keep their memories alive.
Maybe others have some hidden away which were written in memory of their own pets.
