Hope you are following this "Poler vortex" over North America. Moley.
I am doing my best Robongar but the media coverage has as usual blown things out of all proportion. They have latched onto this term ' Polar Vortex' as though it was something new. It's not, it's a regular feature.
It's a low pressure system that forms over the northern latitudes in the winter. The only difference this year is that it has slipped further south, giving rise to the temporarily extreme conditions in North America.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_vortexI wouldn't for one minute underestimate the harsh conditions the folk over there have experienced, but they are not that unusual for this time year.
The media here in the UK have now picked up on this term 'Polar Vortex', and threatening a winter armaggedon. Quite frankly they don't have a clue and are talking through their backsides.
There is nothing whatsoever to suggest a spell of severely cold weather in the UK. Scotland and Northern England may see some snow, but that is normal for this time of year. No need to panic yet folks.
Moley.
