Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch (HNW) have been asked by The Mayors Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to work directly with Scotland Yard Senior Detectives tasked by the Commissioner, Cresida Dick on a Pan London Burglary reduction programme, together with industry security specialist's. The Hillingdon Volunteer team have over 8yrs experience working on/developing cctv pilot projects which have been widely recognised by decision makers.
This work has already begun. For reason you will understand I cannot expand on this but the spike in burglaries has been recognised and is being looked at.
Many of you will also be aware that our HNW team have been lobbying the Government and engaging with the office of the Information Commissioner (ICO) with regard to all matters involving data protection issues, particulary with regard to the capture of imagery on cctv cameras and how that information is processed/shared.
May I place on record our thanks for the support we have had from both City Hall (MOPAC) and the Police Minister, Nick Hurd. HNW of course is apolitical.
The law regarding imagery what can/cannot be posted on Social Media is now very specific. We have just received a very thorough response from the ICO.
In the near future we intend publishing his findings, and this will probably be as a special feature in the HNW newsletter which you will be able to link into.
This is over and above my OWL message yesterday, you no longer have to register of pay the £35.00 fee for domestic property cctv.
Can I invite you please, if you have CCTV or ring/Nest doorbells to consider joining Hillingdon CCTV Watch so we can help our Police identify sites that can help quickly when crime is reported.
