I get caught up in jargon.

In a nutshell UAC is a feature in Vista and 7 whereby everything you or the 'puter does is greeted with a 'are you sure you want to do that' ?

It really gets in the way and is best turned off as it can silently block all sorts of things.

Hi, I am not a computer buff by a long chalk, but what is going to happen to Windows XP after April ???? I love mine, and can do anything on it, my computer is slow, and old, but hanging in there, just has a few things that I would like to iron out, example :- if I get an email with an Url, or a Utube video,or anything that I have to click onto, my computer freezes, and I have to CTRL, ALT, and delete to end task, paper clips are OK, any idea's ??????

You can still use XP. I would suggest you get a good, paid for, anti-virus package (Kaspersky, BitDefender, Norton) to help fill the future void as Microsoft will not be issuing any more 'patch Tuesday' updates.

The hackers will know this and I reckon will concentrate on XP for scams, etc.

The most recent pie chart I saw showed that there is still almost 30% still using XP including some high profile companies.
