1.35pm: According to Reuters, Germany, Finland and the Netherlands are leading the push to delay Greece's bailout until April [see 1.18pm], even though the country must repay €14.5bn of maturing debt in March.

Their plan is for Greece to finalise its debt negotiation deal with its creditors (the Private Sector Involvement), which will trim €100bn off its debt pile. That would provide the resources to deal with March's debt repayment.

Of course, private creditors might be less willing to take a haircut on their bonds if Europe hasn't stumped up its portion of the deal. In that instance, the whole package would have to be rolled over to April – and the rest of the eurozone might pick up the bill in March.

Reuters explained:

This would mean we have to pay the €14.5bn on March 20, which would be a total waste," said the euro zone source, who took part in discussions among deputy heads of euro zone finance ministries on Tuesday.

4.49pm: The FT's Brussels Blog this afternoon has a fascinating romp through leaked documents from the EU that show how the Greek bailout is unravelling.

Peter Spiegel reports that EU officials have turned to City firm Lazard after realising that there's a nasty (and growing) possibility that the Greek debt restructuring could collapse while the swap is underway

They really are trying to force Greece out!!

Farage telling the EU Parliament today that the Troika is pushing the Greeks towards violent revolution....

On the contrary Greece is playing hard ball, and good on them, its about time this EU setup is bought to book, its a Dictatorship headed by Germany and France who are useless in wars, so seek alternative means to exercise the desire to bring everybody into line, and follow their ideology, so far its only been the UK as their fly in the ointment. ;) ;)

Don't get me wrong Jim Greece should be allowed to default, indeed the EU insisted on a change of premier when it looked like they were going to do so some Months ago. (Remember Papandreou made it known he would have a referendum on a New Bailout back in Oct/Nov and was ousted in days).

The mood has changed in the Eurozone where once they did not want Greece to exit due to the knock on effects they were playing for time to get their own firewalls in place.

They now think they have put enough distance between themselves and Greece so the rhetoric has changed.

Bottom Line Greece needs the funds prior to Next Month to pay its creditors. The Eurozone are demanding ever more stringent conditions before they will send the funds. It seems now the demands are outstripping what the Greeks can deliver.

So now stalemate, Wars are obsolete, the Euroclub is clearly not working, is the IMF an option ? or have they been blackballed from that under the European cartel, that begs the question why the common market anyway? cos its certainly not to protect its members as a friend, or even a friendly bank manager short of funds, they are shaping to throw them to the wolves, but then that could well destabilize the apple cart Britain done well to hold back, in fact I think Greece holds the key to the whole EEC if Germany and France dont want to play ball if they lose face, lets be grateful its Cameron at the helm and not Tony or Gordon. ;) ;)
