Ooo! Cllr David Simmonds Is on the national wireless, even as I write, speaking about adoption in his capacity as Chairman of the LGA's Children and Young People Board.

Talking of Cllrs.....the local ones who used to frequent these boards some time ago are noticeable by their very obvious absence. Why is that ? They can't blame it on the website dissapearing temporarily, because they deserted it long before that.

So much for local democracy and accountability.

They and other potential wannabes will be back come election time.........

I kid you not, history will repeat itself.

As to contributing outside of those times I can see their point. Why stick yourself up on a wall to have stones thrown at you when you are under no obligation to do so. Its not like all of them do it only a very few who should be commended for their participation whilst it lasted. Not of course counting election time where they sought to gain perfunctory advantage.

I also heard the councillors contribution on radio 4 this morning (to do with overhauling the adoption process) I assume the other national BBC station (r5) also carried it.

I used to enjoy reading the councillor(s) blurb, quite informative at times.

I see your point to an extent, but why stick yourself up on a wall in the first place if you have no intention of engaging with the electorate, other than when it suits you ? I think we all know the answer to that. I can't for the life of me think why election turnouts, be they local or national, are so low. :o

On the old site there was a thread along the lines of 'Suggestions to the Council', started I believe by a local councillor. ( possibly SSD ? ) If Im not mistaken not one cllr responded to any of the questions or points raised. When are the next local elections due ?

Maybe I should forget all about politics and just stick to weather forecasts. Moley 8-)

Seems obvious they have collectively been warned off from the big house, as its all the parties not just the odd one, maybe its now a condition, no outside communication other than through official channels and passed scrutiny by the head honcho, the price of selective democracy, cant have the public knowing what goes on, if they dont bother, or are not able to attend the meetings. :o :( :(

Lindsay's a friend on here who happens to be a councillor which I think is different from a councillor joining as a councillor. I do think that when councillors are kind enough to join and respond they deserve a bit of respect for that. I'm always grateful for any participation from them.

Lindsay posts as a run of the mill poster and deserves to be treated as such.......As far as I can recall she has never gone 'party political' nor for that matter did Mr Curling or the good lady of Botwell.

I think we all know who the dig was aimed at........
