No change there then, its never been different, just the figures are bigger due to the value of the pound, ask yourself is a person with a hundred million pounds realy any richer than the man with ninty nine million ? the odd million only becomes a factor when you ask is a man with a million pounds any richer than a man with fifty pence, its all relative. |

These are private sector Companies so if these 'bosses' perform badly the shareholders have both the power and the nous to remove them from post. At the same time remuneration packages are calculated from specific performance of the firms concerned. Far more worrying is the 'entitlement' attitude which exists in the public sector. Take hard working teachers for example, I am sure there are some very good examples as there are across all jobs but there are also some complete waste of spaces. Look at at that other thread this morning where some kids cannot even point out specific Countries on a map. These people will demand more money (with the same sense of misguided entitlement which exists in a significant number Chief Executives of Councils) simple because they can and they answer to no one. Their performance on the whole is not monitored leaving the poor performers in post. |

Teachers unlike nurses are able to use their muscle, and the variation between the good ones, and the bad ones, is far greater, thus are open to the politically motivated. geezer466 wrote: Look at at that other thread this morning where some kids cannot even point out specific Countries on a map. these are the future of this Country, no wonder traitor Blair said its far to important for the people to decide. |

The abolition of national pay scales and national pay bargaining would be a first step in sorting this problem out. Every teacher/public employee properly and regularly assessed, reviewed, and paid according to results and merit. The cold wind of economic reality needs to blow hard through the whole of the public sector; but it will never happen while we have a the LibLabCon Party in power.

Going back to the original post, executive pay is out of control and we're all being systematically ripped off. The free market's not working, because too much is owned by too few and many of the big companies seem to operate like cartels with cosy deals on pushing up prices. |

Communism must be the answer then? Of course the free market works its just a bit slanted, You still have a choice as to whether you utilise the services of a private Company (where you think exec pay is out of control) or not. Far more worrying is the ever increasing levels of (consumer) taxes across the board which they justify by raising the personal allowances. |

There is no longer a free market. It has been replaced with globalist cartels. They have a strangle-hold on the whole of the world's resources, they also control labour rates. We have become slaves to the globalist elite. Freedom has been abolished. This is where it is heading: Quote: And the kings (leaders) of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her (Babylon - the globalist system), shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgement come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buys their merchandise any more: the merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, and cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shall find them no more at all. The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, ...

You've saved me the trouble Westonman. Communism is not the answer... what we have now is very akin to communism in many ways. |
