British Gas reckon another 15% rise is on the way.

With their obscene profits it's high time this company was reigned in and brought under national control again.

and i thought when it was privatised , they would have to pay thousands of pounds a day , if they dug up the roads , same with the buses , do they pay to have bus lanes ?? its a private company after all

These price rises are not all down to the energy companies and the global cost of gas.

See the quote below, that “non-commodity” element refers to the costs that Government is adding through its GREEN taxes and the 'costs' of implementing the Green agenda.

Quote:
An average gas bill is now £1,024, but £80 would be added if whole sale prices rise the predicted 15%.
£50 would be added by "non-commodity"rises, bringing the total potential increase to £130.

Government Advice is to switch rather than rein in the gas suppliers.. Great advice wonder where it came from.....

Merv can you do more of this QE thing so energy costs rise and we can use that as an excuse to make more profits? Cheers.

No point in switching, they're all in one big cartel.

Overseen by the LibLabCon cartel......

They have this thing called democracy where they fool the general population of this Country into thinking they have a choice...

All the while that same population is spoon fed the news, debates and other general run of the mill stuff they (the cartel) want you to talk about that same population will remain ignorant of the fact there is an urgent need to change the system.

Forget monopolies commission, free enterprise, and market place trading, the only choice is take it or leave it, the surprise is Cameron, what happened to competition ? but then his main interest no doubt is dividends for his followers, a great opening for Milliband but he is out of his depth. :o

This article poses huge questions over British Gas' prospective price increase.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/ ... op+News%29

Quote:
Part of the reason was the drop in natural gas prices to lows not seen in a decade. Half the companies in the sector missed Wall Street's estimates for the first quarter, a blow analysts did not see coming.
Quote:
Weak demand looks set to hurt the energy sector. Second-quarter earnings are expected to fall 11.3 percent from one year ago, more than the 6.6 percent fall forecast by Thomson Reuters on April 1. Third-quarter earnings are seen down 9.1 percent, more than the 6.1 percent decline estimated previously by Thomson Reuters.
The question is whether the weakness in fuel prices has been sufficiently factored into share prices. Natural gas futures are down 43 percent in the last year, but the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index of stocks has fallen 8.4 percent in that time.
Oil prices are down just 5.3 percent in that time, and the overall S&P 500 energy sector is down nearly 12 percent.
