The topic of fireworks was mentioned on my weather forum a few days ago, and I didn't really comment on it.

Guy Fawkes/November 5th came and went without too much disturbance locally. The general concensus on a lot of forums seems to have been that most folk have more important things to spend their money on in these austere times.

The last few nights round here would suggest otherwise. It has sounded like a cross between Beirut and Sarajevo. I enjoy an organised public display, which last on average about 15-20 minutes. Tonight has been particularly horrendous here though. The bombardment started around 5pm and is still going on now, nearly 5 hours later.

It really is time this problem was taken more seriously, and as John has said, its an anti-social problem.

Quite apart from the incessant racket from the fireworks, dogs in this neighbourhood have been constantly barking throughout in response to the noise, and my neighbours with young children are saying their children cannot sleep.

And this nonsense goes on for 5 more days/nights ?

The watershed doesn't count late at night in the dark when nobody really knows who is letting off the fireworks.

I feel shattered today!

Until a few heavy fines are handed out, it will continue and amplify, none of the authorities have the will to intervene, so it will continue year on year until it becomes unbearable, then when it affects the people who could have it curtailed, mayb just maybe !!!! :o ;) ;)

The watershed is extended I believe on Diwali and New years eve - until 1am !!
Moley I have 3 dogs and we all suffer on nights like these :-( Thankfully we can control the barking otherwise it would be unbearable !

They won't intervene this is a religious festival and for them to do so means them infringing on the freedom of that Religious Expression which is protected under the Human Rights charter.

November 5th and the story of Guy Fawkes however is not so they could and would enforce the anti noise laws.

Suck it up peeps welcome to 2012 all inclusive Britain......... ;)
