Mrs Jim used to be the cook there when Iris Clack was the owner, and Ernie held up the counter, more years back than I care to remember.

Most of these Fosters swilling boozers in 'ayes are no loss to the discerning drinker, however their demise also reflects the fact that a certain type of demographic is being culled and forced out of the area, the one that's hated by New Labour and the Lib / Lab / Con neoliberal axis in general.

A busy evening for our local fire crews as after the pub fire, there was serious fire at Nestles

From the London Fire Brigade website...........

Ten fire engines went to the scene of a fire in the filtration system at a coffee grinding factory on North Hyde Gardens in Hayes last night.

Around 72 firefighters and officers tackled the blaze which caused a small amount of damage to the plant.

Fire engines from Heston, Southall, Wembley, Northolt, Feltham and neighbouring fire stations went to the incident.

They were called at 2321 and the fire was under control by 0219.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Never ever went to the Blue Anchor despite working in Blyth Road for years. I was inevitable that the place would end up a pile of rubble. Anyone also notice that the 'offices' directly the other side of the canal have never ever been occupied!!
