As you may know, I am a volunteer guide at our RAAFA Aviation Heritage Museum.
Today I had the absolute pleasure to accompany Flt. Lt. Paul Royle around our collection.
Who is Paul Royle?
Not only did he turn 100 in January, he is one of the two remaining survivors from Stalag Luft III Sagan.
If you saw "The Great Escape" you know the Hollywood version.
Of the 76 who escaped down tunnel "Harry" he was number 54.
3 made it back to England and 50 of the 73 recaptured were executed on the personal orders of Hitler.
He also recently gave up his driver's license, he doesn't even wear glasses!
A perfect gentleman.
