Now heres a cracking good scheme if ever there was one.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politic ... again.htmlIf im not mistaken, anyone who owns and runs a vehicle in the UK is subjected to the following at the very least.
Vehicle Excise Duty ( Tax disc )
Fuel duty, and the additional increase in VAT receipts as the duty ( tax ) rises
Vat on Fuel duty ( as above )
http://www.petrolprices.com/the-price-of-fuel.html A vat tax added to the cost of insuring your vehicle
On and on it goes. Its a fairly well known fact that motorists get far less back in adequate road infrastructure than they pay for in taxes. Now this government want to turn the network over to private companies ? Have they learned nothing from the past ? You surely need look no further than the other utilities that were handed over to private companies to see where that might lead.
Electricity, Gas, Water, ( basic, but essential human needs in my opinion ). Has the service improved, have costs come down, or at least remained reasonable ?
Public transport...ie: buses and trains. Are they working well and affordable ? Are they serving remote areas, or any area for that matter, at a reasonable price ?
Phone and communication companies ? ...I remember a time when you could call the operator, speak to someone in this country, and be given directory enquiries free of charge. Now its privatised the charges for that service are obscene.
Privatise the roads to get the economy moving again ? Don't make me laugh Cameron. Its all about lining some already very rich pockets.
