… to fund Government coffers.

And we thought the Government wanted motorists to obey the law.
Quote:
Speeding drivers could see their fines soar by 60 per cent to £100 to help fill a £50million funding gap for victims of crime, it has been revealed.
About £20 from each fine will go to the victims' fund under a major review of help for victims of crime by the Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke.
Current £60 fines, which are dished out to motorists caught driving, using their mobile phones, speeding, and not wearing a seatbelt, could rise to between £80 and £100.

Now we know why the roads are so badly designed, motorists are deliberately subjected to visual overload from execessive signage and and yo-yo speed limits - to increase the chances of us breaking the law.

They should have been on the M4 yesterday when an idiot in a Jag was doing 45mph in the centre lane on his mobile.

I thought the Coalition Government had declared an end to the ' war on motorists ' some time ago ?

Obviously not.

He was hoping to make a contribution to the fund for victims of crime.

Yeah! In the same way that many believed that Cameron had promised a referendum on the EU; and most reasonable people understood the Lib Dems had lost the election.

To be fair, when going faster than that, it can be difficult to hear the person at the other end

You and me alike. All that claptrap before the election was fiction. Still, I think he's only marginally better than Gordon. I wonder how he would have spent us out of recession ?
