Almost every evening circa 17:00 I drive north along the Hayes-By-Pass - and it's nose to tail from Bulls Bridge Tesco back to the Uxbridge road.
That very outcome was predicted many years ago, BEFORE the Hayes Bypass was completed, when it was announced that it would terminate at the White Hart Roundabout. It is another example where it is very hard NOT to conclude that chaos was the intended outcome. Who in their right mind would plan to tip thousands of additional vehicles into the White Hart and Target Rounderbouts at rush hours; and then reduce the road space with bus lanes?
Now we can visualise the politicians coming up with their 'solutions' to this 'problem': increase tax on road fuel, reduce road space by adding more bus lanes and cycle lanes, lower the speed limits, add multi-occupational car lanes, set traffic signals at red for longer, add pedestrian crossings every fifty yards, a widening of the London Congestion Charge, work-place car parking tax, carbon taxes, etc. etc. With the enthusiastic application of the UN's Agenda 21, the potential for more politically induced misery to the struggling UK economy is endless.
Just imagine how much more chaos could have been introduced by having a third runway at Heathrow. And that suggestion is now making a comeback too.
