no good . if you cant park outside them
I don't want to eat a meal , and park in a car park , a long was away , at night

The parking situation is such, Councils take their cut in the available cash through street parking, what is left the shop owners compete for, its a rat race that I have not the need to compete, whenever I eat out it is where they have parking facilities, and paying for road space on the roads that I have bought, is like paying rent for a house that others live in, life winners are not the biggest or the bestist, its them that make the least mistakes. :o ;) ;)

..... Also a decent butcher shop - it would be nice to walk to the shops and get what I need without having to go to a big supermarket

I am so lucky as there is a decent butcher at Hilingdon Circus shops. We buy his meat regularly and even on a blind test (ie when Mrs SOT has cooked the food) I can always tell the difference. God knows what will happen to him if Tescos bully their way in at the old Master Brewer site :(

The traffic is already pretty bad along Long Lane at certain times of the day - if Tesco get there it will be a nightmare.

Sorry Moley - you're right. It is diabolical most of the time. We definitely don't need a supermarket there. I've spent many hours queuing on Long Lane trying to get to the A40 ..........

But another Tesco is not about what you want, or even viable, its the numbers game they can boast to ammount of stores they have, along with the fact that maybe, just maybe, another supermarket will get the site, :o

What did we do 25-30 years ago ?

I remember before Sainsbury's in South Ruislip opened it was Waitrose at the Grapes or go to a more local mini-supermarket.

That was it.

I used Tesco or the Co-op in Yiewsley in those days. We also had a couple of butcher shops and a fishmonger in Yiewsley and it was all within walking distance for me.

These days I use Tesco online and get the shopping delivered. It's convenient but I would love a return to local shops ..........
