They are still doing the rounds over Northwood today, though I couldn't see them for low cloud. Its true how deceptive the sound can be, you hear them approaching, you hear them once they've passed, but almost silent overhead.

I just hope they don't get too edgy at the time and shoot down a javelin or discus

Yesterday they must of had more than 1 flying, the dam racket was annoying. Mind you it's raining today and spose this has stopped them flying. Nice and quiet and I can have an afternoon nap in peace ;)

Chris:
All the test flights I have seen so far have had 2 planes flying together, the 2nd taking off about 1 minute after the first

This phase of the exercise is over, which is why they have gone quiet. I think it's safe to say that the £multi million planes can fly in the rain (at least I hope so!!)

I think the RAF were attending the End Ex cocktail party today hence the relative silence..

We have an air show at RAAF Pearce, our local air base on the 19th - 20th this month.
This is a rare event, the last one was in 2005.
There will be a B-52 that will fly over from Guam and refuel mid-air, do a bombing run near Darwin and fly-by us and return to Guam.
The Roulettes aerobatic team, a FA-18 Super Hornet and loads of other stuff.
We'll be taking some museum items and run up our Cheetah IX radial engine.
Looking forward to it.
:D
