They think they have solved the problem in Spain....

What have they done? Lent them more money. It was debt that got them into the problems in the first place...

Can down Kick Road yet again......

Its like a heroin junkie when their supply runs out they will say and do anything to get some more..

Back to the Buses. If the companies give in where will they get the funds? Of course they will put the fares up for the minority that pay them anyway. They will go to TFL and say increase the subsidy who in turn will go to Government who will levy more tax further reducing the amount of money available to the general economy.

Pensioners and kids don't ride free per se, someone still has to pay that and the money is levied on everyone via council and general taxation.

Without wealth growing @ 5%, only those who capture market share can exceed the wealth growth....of course, borrowing can make everyone look great by subsidising reality with debt.....till no-one can afford to repay anymore.

And yes, big bonuses are de rigour for failed bankers....happening big time in Spain this very day.

Spirit of the Olympics.

How much have people living inside the M25 had to contribute in extra taxes for this farcical corperate extortion.

Hardly any British workers employed building these sites, yes an Eastern european mafia existed.

Just ask how much this is worth to Coca cola, Macdonalds, BT, British airways and the rest of the closed shop sponsors.

What with a ticket being out of reach for Mr average, so what if most of the events are struggling to sell.

And if they dont wont me to take my rostered holidays at the end of July beginning of August(rigidly enforced every year no excusses)they will have to pay an Olympic Bonus, and you can call it what you like otherise I will be doing what my contract of employment states all because of their pyss poor planning as usual they leave it to the last minute and just expect. You would of thought that they would of got everybody on board years ago.

As Jim pointed out in a previous blog they cant pay to do the job properly but they can pay to do it twice, trouble is they cant do this twice.

So GOOD for all you people that think this is a once in a life time event, it is for the drug dealers muggers prostitutes and thieves oh I forgot the corperate sponsors, personally I wont be working the Olympics unless they pay me a large OLYMPIC type bonus I will be fishing at the other end of the country far away from this RUBBISH that I have paid for over the last six or so years.

I mean it is just over rated large PANTS........OPIUM for the masses...again

Rant over cant wait for the responces about overpaid turn up go home rubbish fact is that if your work changes they have to negotiate and the press polish it as they like, typical union/transport worker bashing by a NAZI/HUN type press.

What ever you think , a lot of companies are going to make a lot of money out of this
sales , advertising etc the people who are buying the site after .
So why not get all you can yourself
Like most things now , this occasion , is about money first , the athletes second .
If not who have so many so called sports in it , why not have just running jumping and throwing .
football etc what a joke
why have the big expensive opening ceremony? , lots of the athletes will and do make a buck as well
So good luck to the drivers , its not that important , not like a hospital etc

There is a world, just outside where you live, where people rely on buses to get to work, visit families and attend hospital appointments. So whilst a bus strike may not affect your life, such a dispute would severely affect many - including those who use tubes which would be doubly busy. I hope common sense prevails and this dispute is called off asap.

Common sense will not prevail.. They see the lure of easy pickings and think they have TFL over a barrel as a result of the tube drivers settlement. Even if the operators are prepared to negotiate you don't for one minute believe they will absorb the additional cost per driver? No! It will be passed on in higher fares for everyone.

If they do strike I acknowledge there will be some disruption but people will make other plans and muddle through, they always have before.

Moley makes a very good point about greed and the sense of entitlement I have spoke of before here. It is affecting this Country like a cancer, its not only the Olympics (although this event has produced it's chancers) it is endemic throughout society, from bankers to those evicting long established tenants so they can make a good killing on a let through the event.

Spain has now gone (Italy will be next) global financial Armageddon is coming. The reset will occur then we will see what the sense of entitlement is all about..

The London Buses model doesn't work in a way that operators can influence fares.

TfL put out a bus route to tender. All the interested operators place their quotes. The winner based on cost and service quality gets the work.
All the bus revenue goes direct to TfL and not the operators, they are bound by the TfL pricing mandate.

When a driver finishes work they take their ticket machine 'module' and plug it into a 'depot reader'. This data is then fired directly off to TfL and the operators have no means to intercept this data as it is locked down in the DRI PC, so they know exactly how much to collect from fares revenue. They also have direct information as to 'passes accepted'.

The operators therefore cannot collect any higher revenue during the games as this is locked down and controlled by TfL.

Unite the Union has accused Transport for London of ‘ barefaced hypocrisy’, following revelations that senior TfL executives are in line to earn Olympic bonuses 160 times more than the award bus workers are demanding.

According to TfL’s unaudited annual report, the top seven staff at the organisation are in line to cash in on two years of annual bonuses worth £560,000 which equates to £80,000 each if the system runs smoothly during the Olympic Games.

Leon Daniels, TfL’s Managing Director of Surface Transport, who earns a basic salary of £234,000, condemned bus workers whose average salary is £26,000, for asking for an Olympic award. Meanwhile, Mr Daniels himself will be one of the seven managers to receive the £80,000 bonus.

OLYMPIC SPIRIT yer right and perhaps people will back the foot soldier Transport workers rather than pander to the right wing propergander spewed out

In the comming months more of these leaches will be exposed

So, if the bus workers do strike and cause disruption, does this mean that these TfL grabbers won't qualify for their bonus ?

I bet they'll get it regardless

How many times a year do you go on a bus Jim?

I rarely use them - in fact last time I went on a bus I had to walk for what seemed like miles to get to the bus stop because they had taken the one I wanted to use out of service temporarily. That incident reminded me why I don't use buses as a rule (even though I don't pay the fares)

If they go on strike it could cause mayhem. I hope they see sense

There is that sense of entitlement again!!

In the general spirit of things I supported the Olympics coming to London but have been seriously turned off the idea now given how everyone and their dog have jumped on the bandwagon in an attempt to grab a bonus.

Let us not forget the taxpayer will ultimately foot the bill for this 'sense of entitlement'.

If the Euro situation deteriorates to such an extent it has an impact on what Countries (and visitors) can actually travel and compete then it will serve all these bloodsuckers right
